The Ben
The Benevolent Society of the Licensed Trade of Scotland (commonly known as The BEN) has supported Respitality since 2015.
Offering financial, social and emotional support, The BEN has 10 Directors, from every section of the Trade, who work throughout Scotland and volunteer their time to help raise funds, manage the charity and support the delivery of services for beneficiaries. The charity also operates the picturesque BEN Pitlochry Estate on the banks of the River Tay, consisting of 18 bungalows which are rented at subsidised rates for eligible residents.
When one of the properties at the Pitlochry Estate became vacant in 2015, The BEN Society decided to provide a self-catering property, exclusively for unpaid carers to access and benefit from via the Respitality project year round.
Because of this strong partnership between Respitality and The BEN Society, as of December 2018, 129 carers have benefitted from a week long stay in the Pitlochry property. Additionally, breaks donated by the BEN Society are estimated to be in the value of £44,600, based on industry prices for a self catering property in Perthshire.
